| A large man, standing six foot four, Ed Dyer subdues
his strength and paints with the delicacy of a surgeon. His colors splash
across his canvases like a Tuscany sunset - with breathtaking beauty,
dramatic play of light revealing the deep interplay of shadows joined with
each exquisite detail rendered ever so skillfully. The union of dreams and
realism driven by the passion of this man's spirit evokes the way this
gentle man depicts life, which is just as nature intended. |

| Art has been Ed's passion since childhood, as a young farm boy
surrounded by nature's splendor. He acquired the art of skillful
observation and knowledge of subject matter that established his solid
foundation of fundamentals. A smile creases his face when he says that
that is when he began storing and even painting in his mind. |
| |
| It
was a very sobering time when he realized that almost 30 years of his life
simply vanished into thin air and the realization that he was no closer to
his childhood dream of becoming an artist. Life's priorities took center
stage because of the needs of his family. Owning and operating his own
business - a very tough taskmaster - far removed from the world of art
left no time for pursuing his dream. But never once did he lose sight of
that dream because deep inside he painted almost everyday in his mind. He
studied earth's formations, the colors of early morning and late evenings,
the way shadows made the many shades of green falling across the trees,
the early morning light as it kissed the marshlands and its pathways, or
the study of light as it strikes a crystal pitcher embracing a rainbow of
flowers - all these wonders of nature he painted in his mind. |
| |
| After having fulfilled his responsibilities to his family, in 1998
Ed announced that "now it's my turn" and, with the full support and
blessings of his wife, he plunged head first into his second love,
painting. Equipped with determination, solid skills and talent, and
business acumen, he knew that as a full-time artist he would succeed -
failure is not in this man's vocabulary. |
| |
| Awards and money are not what motivates this man who calls New
Orleans home. It is the pride of the recognition he has received from his
peers. It is his need to create art, to establish his own voice that
speaks volumes to those who will "listen" with their eyes. It is a
never-ending process for a successful artist such as Ed is. |
| |
| The melding of his skillful ability, knowledge, and God-given
talent cause his canvases to truly reflect his sensitivity and his
strength - his mastery of light, shadow and depth. This merger provides
the viewer a world of charm and beauty. |
| |
| Listen to Ed: "I want my paintings to draw the viewer into my works
of art, to experience the same creative mood that I feel. I wish the
viewer to linger, to explore and touch their emotions, to remember and
muse for a while. When I have caused these feelings in the viewer, then I
have achieved my purpose, my goal - I have realized my
dream." |
